Pour l’année,2011, l’objectif de l’office du tourisme mauricien est d’atteindre 982 000 arrivées de touristes. Ce qui représenterait une augmentation de 5 % par rapport à 2010 puisque de janvier à décembre 2010 934 827 touristes ont visité l’île Maurice.

L’île de La Réunion a connu en 2009 une progression de sa fréquentation touristique de 6,4%, soit 25 500 touristes de plus qu’en 2008, pour atteindre les 421 900 touristes (dont 8 sur 10 sont originaires de France continentale).
