The Development Plan and Sustainable Development (PADD) of Mayotte, important document for the economic and environmental future of the island, adopted December 17, 2004 by the General Council of Mayotte, was finally approved by the Board of State in spring 2009 (see below decree approving the June 22).

The new ambassador of the island charm of the lagoon has been elected Miss 2009 named Elodie Mayotte Anridhoini. Aged 19 years, measuring 1m75, Chirongui residing in a village southwest of Mayotte, she succeeds Esthel Born, Miss Mayotte in 2008 and third runner-up of Miss France 2009.
