Thursday 10 January 2008
This beautiful plantation of ylang-ylang of several hectares, located near the village of Combani, home to the house - simple and unadorned - with swimming pool and banga, built for Jean-Paul Guerlain 8 years ago, when the general decided parfumeur french supplies directly to Mayotte in ylang, a component of perfumes. There is also a complete distillation.
The whole is now 80% to Sam Aziz, an Indian, the perfumer in retaining 20%.
The visit of the plantation is a delight but it is now reserved only for tourists landed cruise (Star Royal Costa Cruises ...). This should not last: the General Council, Sam Aziz and Jean-Paul Guerlain try to reach an agreement that this place is open to individuals throughout the year. It would be a real plus for tourism in Mayotte, which has only a few historic places to visit.
