New brake application for the tourist development of the island lagoon

Tuesday 29 September 2009

The Development Plan and Sustainable Development (PADD) of Mayotte, important document for the economic and environmental future of the island, adopted December 17, 2004 by the General Council of Mayotte, was finally approved by the Board of State in spring 2009 (see below decree approving the June 22).

To date, there are only three hotels located oceanfront in Mayotte: Garden Maoré (to N'Gouja in the extreme south), the hotel Sakouli (on the east coast, 25 minutes to Southern Mamoudzou) and the hotel Trevan (on the east coast, 15 minutes north of Mamoudzou).

PADD allows exemptions from the "Coastal Act" and locates nine sites (including the three above), discontinuity of existing built-up areas for the potential host of major tourist facilities. But before any investment in these sites, the General Council of Mayotte wants a number of actions to be undertaken (including handle land issues), the sites are not marketable in the state. He then launched June 9, 2009, a market management assistance work entitled "Developing a marketing plan and development of strategic sites for tourism development included in PADD of Mayotte. Alas, the tender procedure has been declared unsuccessful, "the bids were incomplete and not meeting the requirements contained in the Technical Conditions of Contract Owners of the market" This delay therefore even the launch of this important site for tourism development of island lagoon
