The Layout and sustainable development Mayotte finally validated by the Council of State

Wednesday 04 March 2009

On the occasion of the inauguration at Mamoudzou - the main city of Mayotte - the new building of the Committee of Tourism, located on a large plaza at the arrival of the barge near the covered market, the prefect, Denis Robin, announced that PADD (Layout and sustainable development) was finally approved by the State Council.

After being voted on 17 December 2004 by the General Council of Mayotte, the final validation date was postponed several times.
The Layout and sustainable development of Mayotte is an important document for the future economic and environmental development of the island. Particularly because it allows for exceptions in relation to the "law Littoral. Thus PADD locates nine new sites in discontinuity of existing built-up areas for potential host of tourist facilities:

     * Mtsanga Tsoha on the town of Mtsamboro,
     * Bamboo is the common Bandrélé,
     * Mtsanga Beach in the town of Sada,
     * Beach hanged in the town of Mamoudzou,
     * Mtsanga chanf and Mtsanga Hadsalé on the town of Mtsangamouji,
     * Mironi Kano, Mariani and Lidi Mtsanga Guell on the town of Boueni.

Apart from these nine areas of potential major tourist development, no major tourism development can be achieved in discontinuity of existing built-up areas.
To date, there are only three hotels located near ocean Mayotte: Garden Maoré (at N'Gouja in the extreme south), the hotel Sakouli (on the east coast, 25 minutes at Southern Mamoudzou) Trevan and the hotel (on the east coast, 15 minutes north of Mamoudzou).
