Classification of hotels in France next birth of a fifth star!

Saturday 20 September 2008

France will develop from the beginning of 2009, a fifth star for its luxury hotels!
This new label, which put an end to the "French exception" limiting the height of the grid to "4-star luxury", is part of a vast dust of hotel classification.
The creation of a fifth star is, in fact, entail a comprehensive renovation valued at 10 billion euros by 2012 that will pull up the entire hotel chain, "said Herve Novelli, the Secretary of State for Tourism in France.

So far, the stars (types O "Deluxe 4") were awarded by the prefects on the basis of quantitative standards (area, sanitation, telephone, elevator ...), which took little account of the quality of host.
Prepared by the hotel union, the new criteria (more than a hundred against 300 previously) should remedy this by introducing concepts related to the service.
The checks will be carried out by private firms under the umbrella of a public body, odit France, and charged to hoteliers. They will be renewed every five years. A law made by the Council of Ministers before the end of 2008, set out the modalities of the award of this new classification, 1 to 5 stars then.
