Costa Cruises and sustainable development

Thursday 02 April 2009

Involved in sustainable development since 1997, Costa Cruises collects green labels and collaborations to preserve the environment (WWF Italy, Joint Research Center of the European Commission, Venice Blue Flag, CIAL, etc ...).

And above all, in 2005, Costa Cruises was the first company in the world to receive the label "Green Star" for its entire fleet. "Our commitment is above all a guarantee of quality and ethics. We want to be innovative in terms of sustainable development, "said Georges Azouz, president of Costa Cruises France. The company has just published the third edition of its socio-environmental assessment, conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and certified by the Italian Naval Register RINA. It is based on the integrated management system BEST 4 (Business Excellence Sustainable Task), which includes four voluntary certification in terms of quality, environmental, safety and social responsibility.

In addition, the company continues its sale of eco-tours, launched a year ago: the number of 240 today (10% on the total trips), their number should increase.
