Festival «Partir autrement» in Paris

Organized by Aventures du Bout du Monde (ABM), the first festival of the "caring and responsible travel" takes place in Paris on 5 and 6 April 2008.
Two days to explore the possibilities of a "responsible tourism", "lucid, humanistic and informed." With hope, explains the association ABM that passengers leaving the eyes open and limit environmental damage, economic or human that tourism can generate. "
It is urgent: with 12% of world GDP or 595 billion euros in 2006, tourism is one of the first industries in the world, but also that the fastest growing sector. The World Tourism Organization (WTO) recorded 166 million international tourists in 1970, then 455 million in 1990, has counted 898 million in 2007 and provides for 1, 1 billion for 2010.
But the tourism industry, based on transport, with high inputs of water and electricity, is often devastating on the environment (25 to 30% of global CO2 emissions). Three quarters of the sand dunes of the Mediterranean coast have already disappeared due to urbanization tourism. Tourism also generates tons of trash (on its own, a boat cruise rejects 7000 tonnes of solid waste each year.)
