Global air traffic: decreasing

Surprising. The latest figures from the International Air Transport Association (Iata) confirm the decline in air traffic worldwide - 4.6% in November 2008 compared to November 2007.
This is the third largest fall of 2008, after those of September (-2.9%) and October (-1.3%). The filling ratio is 76% (against 72.7% a year ago). The decline in air traffic is mostly felt in Asia (- 9.7%), Europe is the least affected (- 3.4%). The President of IATA, Giovanni Bisignani, said that the airline industry losses could reach more than 2.5 billion dollars in 2009.
Concerning the aviation sector, noted that talk of a rapprochement between Alitalia - Air One and Air France - KLM (which has a new CEO - Pierre-Henri Gourgeon - since January 1st) . Air France could take a 25% stake in Alitalia, for 250 to 310 million euros, according to an Italian newspaper.
