Tahiti: 23.7% fewer visitors in January 2009 and January 2008

Tahiti: This destination is particularly dream travelers from around the world (nearly 2 million visiting each year) suffered a sharp decline in tourist numbers.
After the decline of 10% (or 196 496 visitors less) between 2008 and 2007, Tahiti and its islands have experienced a sudden fall in visitors in January 2009 compared with same month of 2008: - 23.7 %!
Countries that have the most neglected this destination are the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Japan.
Reaction of GIE Tahiti Tourism: a major communications campaign will begin March 30 in view, inter alia, to create a buzz on the Internet.
