Vilnius: European Capital of Culture for 2009

Capital of Lithuania, registered since 1994 on the Heritage List of UNESCO, Vilnius has been elected to the European Cultural Capital in 2009.
Numerous celebrations are planned throughout the year. Including a series of concerts and a major exhibition dedicated to the Lithuanian painter Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis. Vilnius expects 3 million visitors.
