It began on Monday 26 January 2009: the capital of Madagascar was ablaze following the closure of the President of Madagascar, Marc Ravalomanana, radio and then television led by Andry Rajoelina, Mayor of Antananarivo (Antananarivo), its main political opponent. Since then, several sometimes violent demonstrations took place. There are more than a hundred dead.
